THE WATCH THAT GOT AWAY

A few years back, I was asked whether I wanted to purchase a Rolex Submariner 6538, sometimes referred to as "The Original Bond Watch." It was a tremendous chance because it was one of the most sought-after watches in the world, but I had just started my firm and didn't have the cash flow to pay the £100k asking price. I learned the watch sold for $273k a year later.

WHY DO THE PRICE OF ROLEX WATCHES GO UP?

The law of supply and demand governs the watch market, just like it does in any other economic system. Customers are placed on a waiting list that can last more than two years because Rolex cannot produce certain timepieces quickly enough. Since most people, as you would assume, don't want to wait, they come to someone like me and pay a premium, which raises the price of that watch even more.

However, not every Rolex has the same potential as an investment. Like with any kind of investment, picking the correct watch is crucial if you want to succeed.

A KNOCKOUT INVESTMENT

A well-known local fighter spent £4900 on a Rolex Daytona four years ago; the watch is now worth £13,500. But it's not how much money he made that's amazing. It's the fact that he succeeded despite practically always donning the watch.

You see, as soon as we drive our automobiles out of the dealership, their value plummets. Our savings accounts imprison our money and penalize us when we try to use it early. Investing fads like cryptocurrency and others are disasters waiting to happen, and for some people, the stock market is simply too sluggish.

Me? I stick to a market for watches that has stood the test of time and whose prices have never decreased.

I choose investments that I can wear on my wrist. one that is fast and easily convertible into other types of money. One that increases in value with each turn of the cards, and one that I get to take pleasure in at all times.
