The P.4100 self-winding movement was designed by Laboratorio di Idee and assembled at the Panerai manufactory in Neuchâtel. The movement can be adjusted intuitively without corrections or tools, and the day, date, month and year can be set by turning the crown in either direction.

Housed in a relatively compact 39.5 mm steel or rose gold case, the new Chronomaster Open reinterprets the iconic tricolor dial configuration with a transparent twist. Rather than completely removing the small seconds counter at 9 o'clock as in the previous generation, there are three counters thanks to a Hesalite crystal element that acts as an easy-to-read sub-dial while exposing the watch's star-shaped silicon escape wheel. Color is preserved.

The newly developed movement with the El Primero 3604 caliber is based on the 1/10 second automatic high-frequency El Primero 3600 caliber and has a more open structure.
